Winchester Pulls Away in Thrilling Thanksgiving Day Game

The Tanners and Sachems played the 110th annual Turkey Bowl on Thursday in Winchester.

Woburn and Winchester's football teams gave their fans plenty to be thankful for on Thursday - another classic game in a long Thanksgiving rivalry.

The Sachems clipped the Tanners in the 110th Thanksgiving Day meeting between the two teams, earning a 21-19 overtime victory on a frigid Thursday morning.

Rob Voci threw for two regulation touchdown passes in his final high school game, one to Tyler Joseph and another to Marvin Jean, and the teams went to the extra frame tied 13-13.

In overtime, Winchester snagged a touchdown and two-point conversation to take a 21-13 edge, but Marvin Jean scampered for a 10-yard score to give the locals a chance to force a second overtime.

Instead, the Sachems knocked down the conversion attempt and sealed the dramatic victory.

The season comes to a close for Woburn, which loses 18 seniors but returns a solid core in 2014.
