Cloister Summer Concerts Continue

Enjoy a jazz concert in the garden at the Parish of the Epiphany this Thursday starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Cloister summer concert series continues with an evening of jazz this Thursday beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the open-air gothic Cloister garden at the .

“An American in Paris” is the second in the four-part series and will also feature an inaugural exhibition of artwork by six professional artists, drawn from the members of the Epiphany parish. 

Featured artists include John Kramer, Mark Pucci, Andrew Jones and Sarah Brady who will be presenting a jazz lineup by some of the great composers in that genre including Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck and Leonard Bernstein.

Composer and pianist Kramer brings his jazz trio to the Cloister along with flute soloist Brady. Kramer, music director of the , also holds teaching chairs at the South Shore Conservatory in Hingham and the . 

Kramer will be supported by bassist Pucci, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. He has toured with a number of the greatest names in jazz -- Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Herman, Zoot Sims and Tommy Flanagan -- and teaches at his alma mater and the WCMS.

Drummer Jones rounds out the trio. He is a 2004 graduate of Berklee and teaches and plays in the Boston and New York area. 

Brady, called “enchanting” by the Boston Globe, is sought after across the country as a flute soloist, chamber musician and master teacher. In addition to the WCMS, she is on the flute faculty at the Boston Conservatory and Umass-Lowell. 

Tables will be available for picnicking before the performance and attendees can enjoy ice cream sundaes afterward.
