Dodgers bats key win over White Sox
The A. Scolaro Masonry Dodgers banged out 11 hits propelling them to a 14-8 victory over the Constellation Financial White Sox on picture day.


This started off as a back and forth affair, as the Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in the first on consecutive hits by Andrew Torrey (3 R 2 H), Zach Geddes (3H 3 rbi), Matt Scolaro (3 H 5 rbi) and Tanner Cohen (2 H). The White Sox tied it in the second as Patrick Grassey (3 R) and Tim Albert (3 R) scored on singles by Cole Potter and Chris Wilson.

The Dodgers added 4 in the 3rd as Philip Marks, Torrey, Geddes and Scolaro all scored. The Sox tied it in the 4th as Jack Fair, Grassey, Richie Toelke and Albert scored. Worthy Rae and Potter also had key hits.

The Dodgers hung tough, breaking open the game with 7 runs in the 4th with Torrey, Geddes, Scolaro and Tyden Wilson getting key hits. Grassey and Albert scored again in the 6th, but the Dodgers closed out the Sox and moved to 3-0 on the young season.

Geddes, Liam Fitzpatrick,! Cohen, and Wilson handled the pitching for the Dodgers, and Toelke, Miguell Reid-Sandoval, Wilson and Rae pitched for the Sox.

A's defeat Red Sox 13-2

The Cups and Cones A’s scored early and often against Union Gulf Red Sox with 8 runs in the first inning. Getting hits for the Swinging A’s were Teddy Locke, Nate Ruffle-Deignan, Justin Miranda, Jeffrey Price, Devon Driscoll, Teddy Falkenberg and Nate Johnston. Jeffrey Price pitched two solid innings keeping the Red Sox hitting at bay. Ben Blackburn came into pitch for the Sox and silenced the A’s bats for the next 2 innings. The Red Sox posted 2 runs in the third by stringing together walks and timely hitting by Dentler to score Burns and Blackburn. The A’s answered in the fifth inning with hits by Andrew Holland, Ramsey Sullivan, Jeffrey Price and Devon Driscoll. Ramsey Sullivan and Nate Ruffle-Deignan pitched scoreless innings in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings for the A’s as they went on the win the game 13-2.

Orioles Sink Marlins 11-4

The Lexington Wealth Mgt Orioles and The Fitness Together Marlins squared off Tuesday evening for the second time in three days. The players, coaches and parents were still buzzing over the dramatic 6-5 tilt on Sunday.

Sam Rueter, Devin Marrocco, Ryan Delaney and Jack Keane pooled their efforts over 6 innings to hold the Marlins at bay.

Tony Andreozzi, Robby Walsh and Robby Falso pitched effectively for the Marlins but in the end, the Orioles bats heated up and led the way to victory.

Andre Braga and Sam Rueter led the Orioles with three hits apiece, Marrocco added two hits and Michael Drew, Zack Tucci, Keane, Patrick Lampert, Ryan Delaney and Ryan Mahoney all chipped in with timely hits of their own. In the early innings, Robby Walsh of the Marlins stroked an impressive double which reached the fence on one bounce.

Both teams flashed the leather on several occasions, while Henry McDonough of the Marlins made several strong plays from behind the plate.The game ended as darkness crept in, a reminder that the days are getting longer and there is lots more baseball to play.

Dodgers comeback for win

The A. Scolaro Masonry Dodgers scored 7 times in the 4th inning to overcome a 5-1 deficit and defeat the Constellation Financial White Sox 8-7 Tuesday at Nutile field. The Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Aiden Steckel doubled, Richie Toelke walked and Both Scored on a single by Chris Wilson. Jack Fair started for the White Sox and breezed through the first 2 innings, the Dodgers managed to score one in the 3rd as Tyden Wilson doubled and scored on a Philip Marks double.

The Sox pushed the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the inning with Tommy Diamond, Miguell Sandoval and Steckel all scoring, and Chris Wilson bringing home 2 with another single.
The Dodger bats awoke in the 4th sending 12 men to the plate. Zach Geddes, Matt Scolaro, Tanner Cohen, Liam Fitzpatrick, Jacob Masucci, Tyden Wilson and Philip Marks with the hits to make it 8-5 Dodgers. The White Sox didn't quit however as the first 4 batters reached in the 4th. Cole Potter singled and moved around! to score after two walks and a hit batter to make it 8-6. Liam Fitzpatrick came on in relief and struck out the next 3 batters to end the inning. Tommy Diamond held the Dodgers from there with 3 solid innings of relief. The Sox added another in the 5th, Sandoval reached on an error, Steckel was robbed of extra bases on a great catch by Andrew Torrey in center field. Toelke scored Sandoval with a single cutting the lead to one. Fitpatrick nailed down the win in the 6th striking out 2 more as the Dodgers moved to 4-0 on the early season.

Dodgers capture 5th win

The A. Scolaro Masonry Dodgers came back from a 4-1 defecit to defeat the Union Gulf Service Red Sox 6-4 Thursday at Nutile Field. Philip Marks got the Dodgers going in the first jumping on the first pitch and doubling to left field. Zach Geddes drove him home with a single to give the Dodgers the early lead. The Red Sox scored 4 in the 2nd when Brian Dentler reached on an error, Walter Thilly doubled, Anthony Phelan walked loading the bases. Jake Russell walked scoring one run, Thilly scored on a throwing error, and Andrew Sisitsky doubled home 2 more to make it 4-1.

The Dodgers scored 2 in the 2nd to make it 4-3. Tyler Daigle reached on a Fielder's choice and Stefano Mitsakis walked, and both scored on a gap double to left by Jacob Masucci. In the 4th the Dodgers pulled even at 4 as Zach Geddes hit a flare to short right and hustled to 2nd for a double. Geddes then stole 3rd and scored on a ground out by Matt Scolaro.
The Dodgers added 2 in the 5th to break the tie! , Liam Fitpatrick tripled, Joe Lepore doubled scoring Fitzpatrick and Masucci knocked in his 3rd run of the game on a ground out.
Andrew Torrey, Tyden Wilson and Geddes pitched for the Dodgers, and Ben Blackburn and Nick Cantalupa for the Sox. Wilson pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief and Geddes set down the Sox in order in the 6th. Mike Yarin, Blackburn, and Tim Breckwoldt made nice defensive plays for the Sox.

Orioles sneak past A's 3-2

The Lexington Wealth Management Orioles defeated the Cups and Cones Athletics 3-2 in a real nail biter.

The A's were the first to score in the 4th inning when Teddy Locke scored on a double by Nate Ruffle-Deignan.

In the top of the 6th inning Tyler Alba scored the A's second and final run on a double by Nate Johnston.

The Orioles came back in the bottom of the 6th inning. Patrick Lampert doubled to center field and slid home on a line-drive double off the hot bat of Ryan Mahoney. Mahoney then crossed the plate as Ryan Delaney hit a hard single through the infield.

With the score tied at 2-2, Eamon Mahoney hit an infield single that scored Delaney to give the O's a 3-2 victory. The two teams will face each again later this month.

AAA

Rays start May with 11-4 victory over A's

Matt Fagan’s arm and bat led the Gloria's Pizza Rays to their first victory. Fagan combined with Jack Wiseman to hold the potent A’s lineup to 4 runs over 6 innings. Wiseman and Fagan each pitched 3 for the Rays, who topped the A’s 11-4. Fagan also led the Rays with his bat, stroking a home run in his first at bat and a booming triple in his final time at the plate. He added stellar play at short to set the tone for defense. Both teams fielded well, with Will Speros and Peter Kelly turning in solid plays for the A’s. Kelly also took the mound, striking out 5 in 2 innings of work. Teddy Lang also pitched well for the A’s. Wiseman held the A’s scoreless in the first and third, striking out 6. The Rays struck first, plating 3 to start the game. The middle innings were a pitcher’s duel until the fifth, when the Rays did the bulk of their scoring. Fagan and Liam Strobeck, who blasted a triple to clear the bases and drive in 3 runs, led the offensive outburst. Strobeck helped the team with his glove too, catching 5 of the 6 innings and keeping runners honest and pitchers on target. Charlie Nowell made one of the early season’s top plays, snaring a long drive off the bat of A’s slugger Lang. Nowell dove backward and somehow managed to hang on to the ball. Jameson Lehrer and Paul Manganaro turned in several fine defensive plays for the Rays. Lehrer also sparked scoring with his aggressive base running, as did Ryan Ellis and Nick Arana. Albert Sughrue drove the ball well and played very solid defense.

Cubs win against a tough Orioles team

The Joe's Main Street Pizza Cubs defeated the Ropes and Gray LLP Orioles by a score of 17-11. Kyle Bray started things off in the 1st for the O's by crushing a HR to deep right out of the reach of Dan Gattineri. The Cubs responded in the bottom of the inning with James Downs reaching on a single (4 for 4 on the day). His brother Scott pushed him along and a single by Wills D'Angelo drove in the run. The Orioles fought back in the 2nd on back to back hits by John Smyth and Brendan Curran coupled with a pair of walks. Henry Dybowski drove in two runs to put the Orioles on top 3-1. The Cubs responded in the bottom 1/2 of the inning with Tyler Johnson, Nick Forcione and Michael Thorpe all reaching base safely. Dan Gattineri started a scoring rally after battling for a bases loaded walk. Shane Fell put the Cubs ahead by pulling a base clearing double deep into the right center gap. Grant Andrews took the mound to quiet the Cubs' offense with an overpowering fastball. The Or! ioles rallied in the 5th with hits from Blake Waldron, Brendan Curran (3-4 on the day) and Henry Dybowski before the inning ended with Joe Clark tracking down another laser to RF off the bat of Kyle Bray. The Orioles challenged the lead in the 6th, but the game ultimately ended on a very close play at the plate made by Scott Downs. Michael Thorpe started on the mound for the Cubs pitching 2 strong innings while going 2-3 with a triple. Blake Waldron started for the Orioles and pitched two strong innings while going 1-3 with a walk and scoring 2 runs.

AA

Marlins Oust Nats on Opening Night

On a spirited opening night complete with opening ceremonies and a moving national anthem by Chris Berns, the Peterson Party Center Marlins scored six runs in the sixth inning to top the Town Pantry Nationals by a score of 10-5. The Marlins got effective pitching performances from John Paul Marino, Sam Garmey and Jack Lampert. Marino also made some nice plays at shortstop.

The Marlins bats were led by Jack Lampert (3-3, single, double and home run), Ryan McCarthy (2-2, single and double) and Christian Sauer (2-2, 2 singles, walk, 3 runs).
The Nationals got fine pitching performances from Nick Berns (4 innings, 7 strikeouts) and Joe Lawler (2 innings, 3 strikeouts). Lawler also chipped in with a home run.
This was a well-played game by all, and is a sign of good things to come for the 2011 AA season.

Marlins Bats Come Alive Against Red Sox

On a chilly New England evening, the Peterson Party Center Marlins got their bats going, coming out on top of the Prime BUCHHOLZ Red Sox by a final score of 18-4. Leading the way for the Marlins were Michael Tavilla, who went 2-2 with a single, a long home run and a walk, Ryan McCarthy (2-2, home run, double, walk, 3 runs), and Christian Sauer (2-2 with 2 doubles). Other contributers were Andy Yang, who doubled and scored, Zach Watson (2 runs), and Jason Gattineri (2 runs).

The Marlins got strong pitching performances from Michael Wentworth (2 innings, 1 run, 3 strikeouts), McCarthy (2 innings, 5 strikeouts) and Sauer (1 inning, 2 strikeouts). Strong defensive plays were made by Henry Wheaton (2nd base) and Wentworth (1st base).
The Red Sox were led by Tommy Degnan, who struck out six in two innings, Billy Coakley (3-3 with 3 singles), and Philip Walton (1-2 with a hard-hit double to right center).

Giants pull off win

The Ambrose Photography Giants defeated the Peterson Party Center Marlins by a score of 10 to 3 in a tough battle of the two top teams. A pitching duel was unfolding,with great pitching from Jack Lampert, Owen Sullivan, and William Hoffhienz. In the top of the third, the Giants scored six runs. Colin Trueman, Andrew Murray,and Ethan Johnson crossed home plate on a Tommy Fair triple. The Marlins rallied late, scoring three runs in the fifth inning, but Murray's strong pitching stopped the Marlins rally.
