The Chill Zone opened it's doors on Oct. 1, 2010. Chill Zone is owned and operated by Winchester Native Bob Cooke, who was also the Freshman Football coach until 2002. This unique restaurant and ice cream shop is located right next to the athletic fields and has become quite the popular location for students and adults. The menu includes what Cooke refers to as comfort foods. Chill Zone offers fried seafood including flounder, tilapia, and cod; intense appetizers such as shrimp-stuffed Jalepenos, fried portobello mushrooms and fried ravioli; and unique desserts such as fried Snickers, half-stuffed bananas (stuffed with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups), cherry bombs, and fried ice cream. Cooke recently added some healthy alternatives to the menu including grilled chicken, home-made soup, and tuna seafood salad. He expects to have fresh salads available very soon. Chill Zone also serves no-sugar-added ice cream and fat-free frozen yogurt. Chill Zone is dog friendly. There are dog posts outside where Fido can be leashed securely and provided with water. There is outdoor and indoor seating, and a highchair is available. The restaurant interior seats about a dozen people. There is Wi-Fi and an HD LCD television; after school, students are welcome to come and play Madden Football on the PS3. There is a free Madden Tournament every monday with small prizes for winners. Everyone is welcome to sign up for the Chill Zone Club. Text "chillzone" to 244326 to receive important texts about events and special offers. Students are asked to reply to their confirmation with "student."
