Edutron's 2012 Summer Institute in Malden, MA brought together teachers from grades 4-12, regular + special ed, to discuss strategies for raising the bar on how we teach mathematics. We discussed concepts and solved problems, and for each problem we explored multiple ways of solving the problem. Throughout the week we discussed how to approach these problems with our students. How do we push, prod, queue and question our students so that they find their own solutions using their own methods? How do we raise expectations while maintaining our students' confidence? These were the questions with which we wrestled and worked together.
