After months of speculating and days of anticipation, Elizabeth Warren officially announced Wednesday she is running for the U.S. Senate seat in hopes of replacing Republican Scott Brown. In her announcement video posted on her YouTube page and campaign site, Warren says the reason why she is running is "straightforward." "Middle class families have been chipped at, hacked at, squeezed and hammered for a generation now, and I don't think Washington gets it," Warren said in her announcement. Warren, who is an attorney and professor at Harvard Law School, launched an exploratory committee for the Senate run last month.
