A look at some of the top recent headlines from just beyond Winchester.

Arlington Police are asking for the public’s help in solving Thursday’s bank robbery at the Citizens Bank in the Heights. The suspect, who is described as a 5-foot-6 white male, entered the bank and proceeded to the teller window, where he jumped onto the counter and demanded cash, according to police. He did not show a weapon, but whether he had one was still under investigation Thursday afternoon. After the suspect received the cash, he fled on foot. While outside the bank, dye packs, which were on timers, exploded, tainting the cash. The suspect left behind several thousand dollars near the bank, police said. Medford Man Charged with Sovereign Bank Robbery

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 28-year-old Medford man was charged with unarmed robbery. According to Winchester Police, Michael J. Grande, 28, of Medford was charged with stealing $500 from Sovereign Bank in Winchester on Feb. 7. According to Lt. Peter MacDonnell, Grande allegedly handed a note to a teller that read "Give me all you cash. Hurry up." The teller complied and he allegedly fled, with the note. Winchester Police were informed that Grande was the suspect based on video surveillance. Grande was serving time in the Cambridge jail for crimes committed in neighboring towns when the Winchester Police charged him for robbing the Sovereign Bank. "Shortly after the bank robbery he was locked up for unrelated crimes," MacDonnell said. According to MacDonnell, …

On Tuesday, the Sovereign Bank at 7 Church St. was robbed. According to Lt. Peter MacDonnell of the Winchester Police Department, at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday police were alerted by a teller alarm at Soveriegn Bank. Winchester police responded to the alarm and learned a robbery had taken place. According to MacDonnell, the suspect handed a note to a teller that read "Give me all you cash. Hurry up." The teller complied and the man fled, with the note, in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, MacDonnell said.  Police released images of the suspect taken from video surveillance. The Sovereign Bank at 7 Church Street was robbed by means of a passed note this afternoon.
