Week in Review: Town Day, Graduation and a Craigslist Scam

Here's a look back at the top stories in Winchester last week.

Winchester celebrated Town Day this past week. Be sure to check out our photo gallery and some video of the event. The Winchester High School Class of 2011 graduated on Sunday. A 20-year-old Salem woman and a 22-year-old Winchester man were arrested for armed robbery Friday, after an investigation into a Craigslist sale gone wrong May 25. A 20-year-old Winchester man was also arrested on Friday in connection with the crime and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and car jacking. Eric Keough, owner of Kids Footstop, is helping give shoes to needy children, one donation at a time as his shoe store has teamed up with Soles4Souls, a non-profit organization that gives shoes to needy children. Police Log: Stolen Car, Road Rage and a Craigslist Scam

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, June 3, 4:59 p.m. – A Sheridan Circle couple hired a moving company they found on Craigslist to help them move to India. The couple paid the company $1,673.50. The husband has already moved to India, while his wife is still in Winchester. The couple have been unable to contact the company. Winchester Police discovered that the man the couple met from the company – America Movers Inc. – has had his license revoked. The police have been unable to contact the man. 5:53 p.m. – A Sylvester Avenue teenager parked his bike at the train station and when he returned it was stolen. Saturday, June 4, 8:38 a.m.  – A Fells Road resident was riding his bike with his son when they came to the intersection at Washington Street and Swanton Street. …
