Lewis Defeats Georgountzos in State Rep. Race

State Rep. Jason Lewis won re-election, beating challenger George Georgountzos on election day Tuesday.

Lewis Beats Georgountzos in State Rep. Race

After losing six of seven precincts in his home town of Stoneham, State Rep. candidate George Georgountzos has conceded the victory to incumbent Jason Lewis.

After losing six of seven precincts in his home town of Stoneham Tuesday night, George Georgountzos conceded victory in the state representative race to incumbent Jason Lewis. After a long campaign season Chris Kellog, campaign manager for Lewis, said the team and Lewis were excited for the win. "I am extraordinarily happy, and I did not expect Jason to do as well as he did," Kellog said. "I really feel that it speaks to the quality of an individual of Jason because he did do so well." Keollog also wished Geogountzos luck in his future political endeavors. The Winchester League of Women Voters hosted a State Rep. debate between incumbent Jason Lewis and challenger George Georgountzos Monday night at Stoneham Town Hall. The State Rep. candidates fielded nearly a dozen questions that were submitted prior to the "Day at the Races" Candidate Forum held Oct. 22 in the Town Hall Auditorium. About 80 people were in attendance to hear the candidates speak on a variety of topics, ranging from Chapter 70 funding to the MBTA budget. Each candidate gave brief opening remarks, followed by the question-and-answer portion of the forum before offering closing statements. Citizens For Limited Taxation Endorses Georgountzos

The state representative candidate pledged that the legislator will not vote for higher taxes but will instead fight waste, inefficiency, corruption and mismanagement in state government.

The Citizens For Limited Taxation 2 ½ PAC announced their endorsement of 40 candidates running for Massachusetts state office in the upcoming November elections. George Georgountzos, candidate for State Representative in the 31st Middlesex District—Winchester and Stoneham, was one of them. In order to receive this endorsement, incumbents must have had a good CLT rating, and the 23 new candidates must have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge and satisfactorily filled out the taxpayer-issues questionnaire. The Winchester League of Women Voters is hosting the Day at the Races Candidate Forum starting at 7 p.m. in Stoneham.

State Rep. Jason Lewis and candidate George Georgountzos will face off in a public debate just before the third presidential debate tonight. The Winchester League of Women Voters is hosting the Day at the Races Candidate Forum starting at 7 p.m. at the Stoneham Town Hall Auditorium at 35 Central St., Stoneham.
