PHOTOS: Winchester Honors Glen Doherty
Winchester residents showed their support for Glen Doherty, who was one of the four Americans killed in the Libya attacks on Sept. 11.
The Winchester community showed its support for one of its own today as people lined the streets from Costello Funeral Home to St. Eulalia's Church, where retired Navy SEAL Glen Doherty was honored by friends and family. Residents were dressed in patriotic attire, waving flags and holding passionate signs as their hearts went out to the 42-year-old's family, who mourned their loss. Doherty was killed on Sept. 11 while he was working for a private security company guarding U.S. Ambassador to Libya John Christopher Stevens, who was also killed along with two other Americans at the American consulate in Benghazi. A tragic loss--Glen was a true patriot and a hero. This was a moving and fitting tribute to this courageous man who gave his life to help others and protect his country.
