RECALL: Pet Products Possibly Contaminated with Salmonella

A number of name brands are included in the recall.

The FDA announced a major recall of pet products that affects a number of brands. Kasel Associated Industries of Denver is voluntarily recalling all products manufactured at its Denver facility from April 20, 2012, to Sept. 19, 2012, because of possible Salmonella contamination. The brands included in the recall are Boots & Barkley, BIXBI, Nature’s Deli, Colorado Naturals, Petco, and Best Bully Stick items, according to the FDA. The FDA reported that Kasel has not received any reports of illnesses because of the possible contamination. Starbucks Product Recalled For Possible Salmonella

The recall is because of potentially-contaminated peanut butter sold in Starbucks Protein Bistro Boxes.

Starbucks Protein Bistro Boxes are being recalled because of possible salmonella contamination. Flying Food Group is voluntarily recalling Starbucks brand Protein Bistro Box with Enjoy By dates 8/10/12 to 10/6/12, which includes Justin’s Nut Butter 0.5-ounce single-serve Honey Peanut Butter squeeze packs. According to the FDA, The recalled peanut butter squeeze packs contained in the Protein Bistro Boxes have the following Best By dates: 7/14/13, 7/26/13, 7/27/13, 7/28/13, 7/29/13, 8/9/23, 8/10/13, 8/13/13, 8/14/13, 8/15/13, 8/26/13, 8/27/13, 8/28/13, 8/29/13, or 8/30/13. Peanut Butter Salmonella Recall Expands to Target, Walmart

The boy's family is suing Trader Joe's; they purchased the contaminated product in Shrewsbury.

The voluntary recall of salmonella-tainted peanut and almond butter has expanded beyond Trader Joe’s stores to include more than 70 products sold nationwide. Thirty people in a total of 19 states have reported salmonella food poisoning that was later linked to the contaminated nut butters, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. One of those cases was in Grafton, reported WBZ-TV. Jackson Henson, 4, of South Grafton, became ill with salmonella after eating tainted peanut butter, and his family has filed a lawsuit against Trader Joe's in Shrewsbury, WBZ reported. Trader Joe's Peanut Butter Recalled for Potential Salmonella

The Food and Drug Administration says Trader Joe's Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter has been linked to 29 cases of salmonella.

Trader Joe’s is recalling its Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter following its link to 29 cases of salmonella from 18 states. The Food and Drug Administration and the federal Centers for Disease Control issued a statement on Saturday urging consumers to stay away from the peanut butter, especially children under the age of 5, elderly adults and anyone with weak immune systems. According to the statement, the FDA and the CDC briefed Trader Joe’s on the status of the investigation on Thursday, and the company agreed to remove the product from store shelves immediately. “We have no confirmed information that suggests this peanut butter is unsafe to eat,” the company stated.
