Santa came back to town last Saturday to have breakfast with the children of Winchester.

Last Saturday, kids of all ages came out to see Santa make a personal appearance at the Town Hall. Sponsored by the Recreation Center, a breakfast of donoughts, bagels, fruit and more were served and "Mr. Ed", the musicman performed some Christmas classics. Check out some pictures of this magical morning.

Weekend Planner: Holiday Concerts and a Night of the Arts

Here are some suggestions of what to do this weekend.

1. JUBILATION SINGERS Where/When: McCall Middle School; Saturday, Dec. 17 Why Go: McCall's own performance choir, the Jubilation Singers, are holding their annual Holiday Concert.  Tickets can be purchased at Bookends or at the door the evening of the performance. Price: $5 2. NIGHT OF THE ARTS Where/When: High School; Friday, Dec. 16, 7 p.m. Why Go: The Entrepreneurial Youth Society will host its First Annual Night of the Arts on Friday, Dec. 16 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. to promote entrepreneurship, art and enriched education. All revenue earned from the event will go primarily towards the American Studies trip to Chicago. Tickets can be purchased at Book Ends. Pricing: $10 for adults and $5 for students. 3. BOEING, BOEING Where/When: Winchester High School; Thursday, Dec. 8.; Friday, Dec. 9; Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. Why Go: Curtain and Cue presents Marc Camoletti's "Boeing, Boeing," a farce in 2 acts. This 60's comedy classic remains fast-paced and relevant with a "Mad Men" vibe, thanks to an update by directors Jenna DiTullio and Carol Alexander.  Marc Frongillo plays Bernard and Elizabeth Keith is Bertha, the wise-cracking maid. New to the Winchester stage is junior Cameron Schmidt as Robert.  The high flying trio of international "air hostesses" features Jenna Bittner, Grace Burchard and Christina O'Neil. Santa Plans Visit to Winchester

The Winchester Chamber of Commerce will be holding its tree lighting ceremony this Thursday.

Sponsored by the Winchester Chamber of Commerce, the Holiday Lighting Ceremony will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. on the Winchester Common.  The music for the tree lighting will be provided by Winchester All Town Honors Boys and Girls Chorus directed by Katherine Walpole and Christopher Nickelson. Instrumental accompaniment will feature WHS students and staff under the direction of Jeanne Snodgrass.  Santa will be making his arrival by fire truck, and children will be able to greet him and share their wish lists.

I agree with Ms. Disappointed. I have young children and I think that a Saturday or Sunday would work better for this type of event. Also it gets dark by 5:00. Why not start the tree lighting then? Then everyone can be home by 7:00 or 8:00. If kids have homework then they could finish things and get to bed at a recent time.   more ›
