Committee Evaluates Education Program Cuts with WHS Project Costs

This is the second in a series of updates from the Education Facilities Planning and Building Committee on the High School Feasibility Study. Here is the first update. The Education Facilities Planning and Building Committee (EFPBC) evaluated high school alternatives according to education program and project cost tradeoffs on Wednesday, Oct. 17. I would have thought that Newton North is a shining example of "what not to do", not a signal of what is possible. The cost of the high school put the town of Newton under huge budgetary pressures, caused subsequent override votes (for other projects) to fail, and ultimately tightened the guidelines for state funding of school projects for the entire state.
