The second annual Winchester Chamber Business Expo is slated for Feb. 12.
The 2nd annual Winchester Chamber of Commerce Business Expo is slated for mid-February, according to a press statement. The expo, which is free to attend, will be held from 6-8 p.m. Feb 12 at the Winchester Sons of Italy, 117 Swanton St. Due to the growing popularity of the first event, the expo will be held at a bigger venue to accommodate more vendors and attendees, according to the statement. There's a new philanthropic wrinkle to the expo this year, according to the statement. "This year, as attendees enter the event, they’ll each get one complementary ‘nonprofit drawing’ ticket. Representatives from NSTAR and Blue Selenium Solar explained how businesses can slash energy costs through energy efficiency and solar power.
On a recent Wednesday night, Winchester businesses gathered at a Town Hall “Power Hour” to learn how to slash energy costs through energy efficiency and solar power. Experts described quick paybacks for the measures, as short as nine months. At the event, an NSTAR representative spoke about their Direct Install program that provides a free energy audit and NSTAR payment of up to 70 percent for energy efficiency measures such as new lighting and fixtures. A local businessman, Walter Hubbard, from PC Quickhelp, spoke positively about the process and how the changes had improved the lighting in his office. The Holiday Season is quickly approaching for another wonderful Winchester tradition, the Holiday Lighting in Winchester Center. This project is achieved through a special collaboration between the Winchester Chamber of Commerce and the "Lights of Love". However for this program to be successful – we need you! It is through the generosity of individual donations from local businesses and residents that this holiday tradition is funded. This fundraising effort of the Chamber of Commerce and the "Lights of Love" is the sole support of the Holiday Lighting in the Town of Winchester. The Winchester Community Music School will be performing in several Winchester Center stores while you shop.
Winchester Center shops will open for special hours from 6 p.m. to midnight the Monday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 26. Holiday shoppers will find music groups, refreshments and special sales. Winchester Community Music School students will also perform at several shops. Each store, restaurant or service business does its own promotion, entertainment or refreshments. The Winchester Chamber of Commerce said this one day is often the single biggest shopping day of the year, and every Winchester Center shop is packed full and looks forward to welcoming hundreds of shop local supporters. The Winchester Chamber of Commerce and Winchester’s Climate Action Committee are holding a meeting for small businesses to provide information regarding energy efficiency and solar measures that save money and improve the bottom line. A representative from NSTAR will speak about their Direct Install Program for small businesses, featuring a free energy assessment and payment of up to 70 percent of the total cost of retrofitting qualifying lighting and mechanical systems.While the business pays the remaining 30 percent, financing is available at a 0 percent interest rate. The Winchester Chamber of Commerce’s annual Flea Market/Yard Sale/Craft Sale will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Town Hall parking lot.
