The Winchester Department of Public Works has spent nearly $450,000 this winter tackling several snowstorms.
The Winchester Department of Public Works has spent nearly $450,000 this winter to clean up after several snowstorms, according to Director Jay Gill. The DPW, which budgeted $400,000 for snow maintenance this winter, had to put in a request with Town Manager Richard Howard and the Finance Committee in late February for an additional $100,000, hoping that that would be enough to get the department through the rest of the season, according to Gill. The Finance Committee approved the request, he added. Prior to Tuesday's snowstorm, the town had spent $449,687 from the snow maintenance budget, according to Gill.
