The magazine's 2013 rankings came out Monday.
On mobile? You can see interactive map here. Newsweek has ranked the high schools nationally, but the criteria they used leaves Winchester High School off of their list. The school did rank in the top 500 nationally by US News, coming in at #21 nationwide and #18 in the state. The school district was also listed in Boston Magazine's top 20 list, coming in at #17. For its rankings, Newsweek sent out a survey to more than 5,000 high schools in the U.S., with about 2,500 schools responding in 2013. Winchester native and MBTA Officer Richard "Dic" Donohue Jr., who was injured in a firefight with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, is recovering well at Mount Auburn Hospital, according to his brother Ed Donohue.
MBTA Officer Richard "Dic" Donohue Jr. is awake and doing "awesome" while recovering at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, his brother and Winchester Police Officer Ed Donohue, told CBS Boston. Donohue Jr., a Winchester native, was wounded during a shoot-out with the Boston Marathon bombing suspect in Watertown. Donohue Jr., 33, of Woburn, was hit in the leg during an early-morning shoot-out on April 19 in Watertown, authorities said. Authorities are investigating whether Donohue Jr. may have been hit by friendly fire. Donohue Jr. is a police officer with the Massachusetts Bay Tranportation Authority, where he has worked for three years. Richard Donohue, of Woburn, was injured in the Watertown gunfight early Friday morning during the hunt for the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects.
There has been an outpouring of support, thoughts and prayers for Winchester native and MBTA Police Officer Richard "Dic" Donohue Jr., who was injured during a Thursday night shoot-out with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects. Donohue, 33, who recently moved to Woburn with his wife and 7-month-old son. He has been a member of the MBTA Transit Police for three years.
