Mahoney's Winter Market Opens Saturday in Winchester

Mahoney's second annual Winter Market opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12.

Dozens of vendors will be displaying their wares when Mahoney's second annual Winter Market kicks off Saturday morning at the Garden Center located at 242 Cambridge St. The Winter Market, which opens Jan. 12, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday until March 16, according to a Mahoney's Garden Center press statement. Local farmers, artisans and other area businesses will be selling their products, including root vegetables, herbs, fruits, cheeses, meats, seafood, baked breads, desserts, and olive oils, plus select jewelry and clothing, according to the statement. "It’s amazing to see the variety of fresh vegetables grown in winter at our local farms," Pamela Vasques, event coordinator for Mahoney’s Garden Centers, said in the …

Winter Market Brings Fresh Produce to Town

The new winter market at Mahoney's brings 25 vendors and many eager customers to one of the garden center's huge greenhouses.

Finding fresh, locally grown produce in the winter can be a challenge, but Winchester’s latest market looks to change that. Mahoney’s Winter Market has been open for three weeks. Held in one of the garden center’s massive greenhouses, the winter market includes 25 vendors selling everything from parsnips to alpaca wool gloves. Paul Waxman, Director of Marketing at Mahoney’s, said the opening day of the market went “gangbusters. Way better than we even hoped for. It was huge.” Last Saturday, in the market’s third week, the parking lot was packed and the vendors were selling fast.
