Since when do we have the victims of a crime serve on the jury?
He certainly looks guilty based on what we know, but he deserves a fair trial with a jury of impartial citizens. The moment we stop doing this (sadly already seems to have happened in Guantanamo), we start down a slippery slope where all of our freedoms are at risk.

ReplyWe are going through great effort to reorganize the parking in Winchester in order to help the very same merchants who are abusing the system (albeit the number abusing the system is small). This is a very good start. I could name merchants I've seen moving their cars around town so they care clearly known to the parking enforcement officers. I would propose we change nothing else for the time being and see if this is enough to improve the situation. The thought of eliminating all 2 hour parking in the downtown will really hurt the restaurants and spill-over business after people dine.

ReplyIs this median or average? I ask because usually for such data, median is much more useful. High value outliers (3 million dollar houses) can dramatically skew the data). Put another way, it is likely that more people in town pay BELOW the average than ABOVE.

Not sure this is feasible for most people...or really anyone. I suppose as a single person it might be doable. 45 % of gross income set aside? Plus ~36% for fed, state and fica tax. She is living on ~19% of her gross income. Imagine she makes 100k / year, a very nice salary and perhaps more than she makes. She is living on 19k/year? That is covering her health insurance, her nice vacation, he food, clothing, housing. Hopefully she doesn't have childcare costs. Or automobile insurance or maintenance.
