Hotrods and Guitar Repairs at Mouradian Guitars

If you walk into Mouradian Guitars, you’ll likely see Jon Mouradian working on electric guitars or classic cars. “A lot of people call this heaven,” Mouradian said. “Guitars are a lot like little hotrods.”

Mouradian has been working on the wiring of electric guitars for a living since 1982. The back wall of the shop is lined with a row of 200 to 400 guitars waiting to be fixed up.

The store first opened up as a solid body repair shop, but they upgraded to selling used gear as well. “There is always a high demand for repairs,” Mouradian said. “This is just a cool way to do what I love, help the local musical community and earn a living.”

Mouradian is a self-proclaimed “functional guitarist.” His father is a 100 percent musician, but repairs were more Jon’s speed. Between the age of 17 to 21, Mouradian toured a better part of the world with as a guitar tech for the local 90’s rock stalwarts, Extreme.

Since then, Mouradian has been in the shop at 810 Main Street, where almost all of his business has come from word of mouth recommendations.
