About Bridget Brigade Foundation: Several years ago, Dianne and John Dobbins faced many challenges when their daughter Bridget was diagnosed with a childhood cancer. They also watched as other families struggled to balance the need to be with their sick child while trying to maintain some normalcy in the lives of their other children. At the same time, they witnessed the outpouring of community support and the generous donations of toys for the hospitalized children. Even the smallest of these gestures were important reminders of the goodness in life.

In 2006, the Dobbins family started a toy drive in Bridget’s memory. The incredible response of donations from family and friends spread to their local community. From that small seed grew what is now the Bridget Brigade Foundation, Inc. (BBF).

BBF is dedicated to helping critically ill children and their families by providing direct financial grants of up to $5,500. An important goal is to include children in various fundraising activities. The Bridget Brigade is an all-volunteer organization. Thanks to the generosity of several organizations, event sponsors, and hundreds of local residents and family friends, the BBF has raised more than $165,000 in cash and toy donations for sick kids at hospitals in the greater Boston area. In addition to helping families financially, the BBF has directly assisted local hospitals, including Winchester Hospital, with projects and equipment for their pediatric units.
